Fred Rao founded eChineseLearning in Beijing in 2006. While he was teaching Chinese in a Chinese language school in the U.S., he was acutely aware of the challenges Chinese learners were facing. His solution is one of simplicity – offer one-on-one instruction based on each student's specific needs. He once said, "We held a very simple belief when we started the school – to offer effective and affordable Chinese education to each learner around the world by leveraging Internet Technology." So far, more than 1000 students from around the world from age 4 to 75 have studied Chinese at eChineseLearning.

Our management team consists of dynamic individuals with rich experience in Chinese language instruction from world-famous universities such as Stanford University, Peking University, Tsinghua University, and Beijing Language University, all working together to create the best possible language learning experience.

As a child of educators, and a native of Beijing living in the United States for many years, Fred identified a worldwide market need for high quality online Chinese language education. For this reason, he led language development programs and taught Chinese in the United States, serving as Co-Founder and Director of the Colorado Springs Chinese Cultural Institute. Fred founded eChineseLearning in 2006 which provides systematic, customized, one-on-one Chinese instruction services to students of all ages and walks of life. Over 1000 students have participated in eChineseLearning programs worldwide from age 4 to 75, and the student base is growing rapidly.Fred also has extensive history in the Internet industry. Recently, Fred served as Co-Founder & Chief Operating Officer of UUMe.com, one of the largest social networking companies in China. In this role, he built a user base of millions, and secured backing by top tier Silicon Valley venture capital firms. Fred also served as Associate at Fidelity Capital, working closely with partners on all aspects of due diligence. At ITT Industries, Inc., Fred managed engineering and product development, leading engineering and project development initiatives. Fred earned his M.B.A. from Stanford Graduate School of Business, and an engineering degree from Ohio State University.
